Mary Models a Disciple of the Master
Mary Models a Disciple of the Master Luke 1:26-38
1. Rejoiced in the grace of God
“Greetings, O favored one, the Lord is with you!” (1:28)
“My spirit rejoices in God my Savior . . .” (1:47).
2. Yielded to serve the will of God
“Behold, I am the servant of the Lord . . . let it be to me according to your word . . .” (1:38).
“For he has looked on the humble estate of his servant . . .” (1:48a).
3. Pursued understanding the plan of God
“How can this be, since I am a virgin?” (1:24)
“Blessed is she who believed that there would be a fulfillment of what was spoken to her from the Lord” (1:45).
“And his mother treasured up all these things in her heart . . . “ (2:51b).
4. Connected with others in following the Lord
“Blessed are you among women . . .” (1:42a).
5. Praised the greatness of God
“My soul magnifies the Lord . . .” (1:46).
6. Remained faithful to God
“All these with one accord were devoting themselves to prayer with the women
and Mary the mother of Jesus, and his brothers . . .” (Acts 1:14)
