Love is . . . 1 Corinthians 13:1-13
1. Love’s Necessity (verses 1-3)
Without love . . .
• Tongues are mere noise
• Prophecies amount to nothing
• Good deeds are unprofitable
2. Love’s Nature (verses 4-7)
Love expresses the character of God . . .
• “Love is the power that moves us toward another without expecting a reward” (Smedes).
• “True love is not sentiment but service” (MacArthur).
• “True love is not gotten but given” (Rutenbar).
3. Love is Never-ending (verses 8-13)
Love never fails . . .
it never becomes invalid . . .
it is always useful.
