The LORD Knows Me Personally

Greatness of God

The LORD Knows Me Personally   Psalm 139:1-6 and 23-24

“Nowhere are the great attributes of God—his omniscience, his omnipresence,
his omnipotence set forth so strikingly as they are in this magnificent psalm.”
However, the song writer does not use theological terms. Instead, he personalizes
these great truths about God.

“The LORD knows all about me,
He is with me wherever I go.
He made me.
The LORD’s enemies are my enemies.”

The name for God is YHWH, the personal, covenant keeping God.

I.  I am awed by the LORD’s personal knowledge of me (verse 1)

II.   I am awed by the LORD’s complete knowledge of my every step (verse 2-4)

III.  I am comforted and convicted by the LORD’s caring knowledge (verse 5-6a)

IV.   I am humbled by the incomprehensible knowledge of the LORD (verse 6b)

The LORD’s knowledge comforts the uncomfortable, but He convicts the comfortable.

What path are you on? How does the LORD want to change you?

“Search me, O God, and know my heart!
Try me and know my thoughts!
And see if three be any grievous way in me,
And lead me in the way everlasting.”
