God’s Protection of His People

Revelation, Are You Ready

God’s Protection of His People   Revelation 6:12-7:17

Introduction

1.  Christ’s return
   a. to “rapture” His Church
    i.  1 Thessalonians 4:16-17
    ii. 1 Corinthians 15:51-52
   b. to establish His kingdom
    i.  Matthew 24:29-31
    ii. Revelation 19:11-20:6
2.  God is on the throne with all authority and power (Revelation 4)
3.  Only the Lamb of God is worthy to execute judgment (Revelation 5)

I.  Kept from the wrath of God (Revelation 6:16-17)

The Great tribulation expresses the Lamb’s wrath on the world. People like to think of Jesus as meek and mild,
gentle and gracious. These are all true. However, even in the Gospels describing Jesus’ earthly ministry
you get a glimpse into Jesus’ anger toward sinful rebellion against God.

    Revelation 6:16-17
    Revelation 16:1

The Bible promises that believers will be kept from the wrath of God.

   1 Thessalonians 5:9
   Revelation 3:10

II.  Sealed by Sovereignty of God (7:1-8)

There are 144,000 Jewish evangelists who are protected from God’s divine wrath.

III.  Translated into the Presence of God (7:9-14)

Believers are found in the presence of God and around the throne.
How did they get there?

IV.  Comfort for the People of God (7:15-18)

Christ’s second coming to rapture his Church and to establish his kingdom are a great comfort.
Though this world system and Satan’s rebellion will be defeated and in its final days will be
terribly rebellious, we know that Jesus is coming for us and that we will reign with him forever.

How are we to live in anticipation of Christ’s coming?

“For the grace of God has appeared, brining salvation for all people, training us to

  renounce ungodliness and worldly passions,
and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age,

waiting for our blessed hope . . .” (Titus 2:11ff).
