Jesus Came to Invite Us to Come

“Advent, from the Latin word adventus meaning arrival, is the 4-week period prior to Christmas.
It is a time to ponder the great sacrifice that our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, made for us
by coming to earth as an infant. He lived a perfect life, died a sacrificial death,
and rose from the dead for us. He saved us from our sins and eternal damnation because of his great love,
adopting each person individually into his family through . . . faith in him” (from Living Hope Church blog).

Why Jesus came . . . (Mark 10:41-45)

•  Selfless
•  Service
•  Suffering
•  Sacrifice

How we come . . . (Luke 9:18-24)

“And [Jesus] said to all, ‘If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up
his cross daily and follow me . . .” (Luke 9:23).

Robert E. Coleman writes in The Master Plan of Evangelism, “Jesus’ concern was not with
programs to reach the multitudes, but with [individuals] whom the multitudes would
follow . . . [People] were His method of winning the world to God.” Jesus concentrated his efforts on a few.
