The Kingdom Conclusion

Revelation, Are You Ready

The Kingdom Conclusion  Revelation 11:15-19

God’s Unfolding Plan

The U-shaped plot from Genesis to Revelation:

•  Creation to New Creation
•  From the Fall to Final Judgment
•  Satan Deceives to Satan Bound
•  Subdue the Earth to a Subdued Earth

Jesus is coming to rescue his people, punish sin, conquer the Adversary, and be crowned the King of Kings.

•  Saints are vindicated
•  Sin is punished
•  Satan is defeated; and the
•  Savior is exalted.
The seal is the title deed to the earth’s ownership. Satan is “the god of this world.” He has tempted (Genesis 3),
distracted, deceived, and sought to destroy. We see his strategy in his temptation of the Lord Jesus.
Ultimately, the Evil One wants to destroy the image of God.

The Timing

The sixth-seventh seals, seven trumpets and seven bowls unfold simultaneously or in sequence?
The seventh trumpet is the final judgment.

“Seals, Trumpets and Bowls are series that cover three differing but partially synchronous periods.   The seals express the historical principles or trends that bring judgment upon the world; the trumpets   are the judgments that introduce and effect the acute distress of the end, and the bowls are the intense   climactic judgments that close it. Thus the structure of Revelation covers in broad review the   entire period between the Lord’s assumption of the prerogatives of dominion and judgment (5:5-14) down   to the end of earth’s story” (Tenney, Interpreting Revelation, p. 81).

The Trumpet Judgments: Supernatural, Specific, Drastic, and Final

Trumpets 1-4 Physical judgments destroy the earth’s ecology (8:6-12)

Trumpet 1 brings a third of the earth, trees and grass burned.

   Trumpet 2 brings a giant mountain . . . perhaps a meteor strike.

Trumpet 3 may bring another meteor poisoning fresh water like wormwood, a bush whose leaves are toxic.

Trumpet 4 brings a partial eclipse dramatically impacting weather patterns.

Trumpets 5-6 release demonic destruction of humanity (8:13 and 9:1-19).

God permits Satan to unleash a deadly attack against humanity. However, Satan can only do what God permits.

Trumpet 5: Apollyon seeks to destroy those who don’t have the seal of God on their foreheads (see 7:3 and 9:4) and
leads demonic embodied spirits who like locusts bring destruction. They were not permitted to kill, but could
   torment for five months.

Trumpet 6 announces four angels—evidently demons. They are permitted to bring destruction and death to one-third
of humanity. However, they can only function within God’s sovereign will.

Even the most literal interpreters of Revelation see the 200 million army as symbolic of spiritual forces rather
than an actual human army.

Trumpet 7 concludes the outpouring of God’s wrath. “The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord
and of his Christ, and he shall reign for ever and ever” (Revelation 11:15b). God’s rule is visible.
   The judgment is concluded.

How did “those who dwell on the earth” respond? (6:10, 8:13, 9:20-21, 11:10, 13:8, 14:6)

How does the God care for His people?
