Discipleship Begins with Grace

Discipleship

Discipleship Begins with Grace   Ephesians 2:1-10

I. Need for grace

• Condition is “death”
• Cause is “transgressions and sins”

II. Gift of Grace

“But” . . . Three Contrasts . . .

Contrast ONE (Verses 3-4)

God’s wrath toward sin    Rich in mercy and great love

Contrast TWO (Verses 5-7)

Dead in our trespasses    Made us alive together with Christ

The Result in Disciples: “So that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches
of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.”

Contrast THREE (Verses 8-9)

BY       NOT
Gift of God    Not a result of works

“God’s grace is getting what we do not deserve. God’s mercy is not getting what we do deserve.”

III. Result of Grace
